New Fitness Book Offers Radical Regimen for Busy Brides

When it comes to diet and fitness books, it’s all been said and done before, but certified personal trainer and sports nutritionist Jason Fox has found a new angle for an old audience… busy brides who want to shape up for the big day.

Sugar, flour and fruit juices are evil, but calories from fat – in balance with protein and fiber – are actually good for you. Fox also challenges many other time-honored myths about diet and exercise, including:


    There is no need to drink eight glasses of water per day. If you eat the right foods, the food will provide almost all the hydration you need.

    Personal trainers and gyms are unnecessary. You can get all the exercise you need at home with a set of kettlebells that work the major muscles and joints.

    Isolating body parts in your workouts is pointless. Your body moves as a unit, so you should train it as a unit.

    Treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes or ski trainers are a waste of time. It’s much more effective to perform short, intense bursts of resistance exercises than to toil for hours on a cardio machine.

    Skip the supplements. The only way to change your body composition is by eating great food in modest portions, and building your body through resistance exercise.

    Starvation is never acceptable. In the book’s foreword, Krista Klumpp, a 2011 cast member of the television show Survivor: Redemption Island, describes what starvation and rapid weight loss is really like, and it’s not pretty.
